Chinon Rouge AOC Pierre & Bertrand Couly, "Le V", Magnum 2009
One of our favorites, Chinon wines generosity have been praised by Francois Rabelais, the great French writer of the XVI th century: "buvez toujours , ne mourrez jamais". The wines bring out the minerals from the Chinon terroir and are produced in one of the prettiest place on earth. Many French kings decided to live there as everything is just perfect: the cool climate, unique gastronomy and plenty of great wine. The Couly family has been contributing to get the best of Chinon wines for generations. From clay and limestone hills located to the west of Chinon. Harvested at full maturity. Service: around 16°C. Tasting notes: The limestone brings an extra dimension to this wine which has a large mouth full and tannins strengthened. An intense purple colour with a nose of blackberries, leather and undergrowth characteristic, full bodied and soft at the same time, with harmonious tannins. Aging potential : great now, can be kept about 10 years. Food pairing: This wine will be ideal with stews and all slow cooking meat dishes with sauce.
